Hi everyone!
I’ve developed a WearOS app called Current Spot that displays real-time Tibber spot electricity prices directly on your smartwatch. As a Tibber customer and HA user myself, I wanted quick access to current energy prices without pulling out my phone.
What it does:
- Real-time spot prices (hourly/15-min intervals)
- 24-hour price forecast
- Visual indication of cheapest periods
- Watch face complication for current price
- WearOS Tiles for quick access
- Clean, glanceable design
Privacy-focused:
All data is stored locally on your phone. The app only communicates directly with the Tibber API - no third-party servers involved.
Why I’m posting here:
Many HA users also use Tibber for energy management, and I’m considering adding Home Assistant integration. This could enable:
- Display HA energy dashboard data on the watch
- Quick toggles for energy-intensive automations
- Notifications based on HA energy triggers
- Two-way sync between HA and the watch app
Before building this, I wanted to gauge community interest and get feedback on what would be most useful.
Beta testers needed:
I’m currently looking for 10-15 beta testers with:
- Android smartphone + WearOS smartwatch (Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch, TicWatch, etc.)
- Ideally Tibber customers (but not required for basic testing)
How to join the beta:
Step 1: Sign in to Google (google dot com)
Step 2: Join the Google Group
- Open: https://groups.google.com/g/current-spot-wearos-app
- Click “Join group” (middle of the page)
Important: Beta access won’t work without group membership!
Step 3: Install beta app
- Web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.zapp.wearos
- You need both phone and watch apps
Step 4: Test and give feedback
Feedback welcome here in the comments or find current_spot_support on GitHub
Questions for the community:
- Would HA integration be valuable to you?
- What specific data/controls would you want on your watch?
- Are there existing WearOS + HA integrations I should look at?
- Should I prioritize HA Companion App integration or build standalone?
The app is completely free and open to the community. I’m building this because I needed it myself - if others find it useful, even better!
Note: This is an unofficial third-party app, not affiliated with Tibber or Home Assistant.
Thanks for reading!
