I’m 2 hours out from initiating a system restore. My backup size was 1.1 Gb.
I can login via ssh and have an observer url (see screenshots). Observer shows supervisor is disconnected.
I’m trying to figure out if I should just power the device off and back on, or if I should wait longer.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Followup: At the 2.5 hour mark, I lost patience.
Entered “ha core restart” via ssl and that got it going. But, still had to perform a system reboot after HA came back online, since several services were missing. After the reboot, everything came up normally.
Would still be interested in knowing if there is a way to know when it’s safe to perform this action.
Followup 2:
What was restored did not appear to be the backup I was looking for; it looked like the same system I had immediately prior to the restoration, instead of the one from yesterday (i.e. the intended backup), making me wonder if the restoration process somehow failed and then reverted to the pre-restoration version. Not sure how to confirm if this is actually the case.
So, I attempted another restoration, and am noticing the observer page shows a healthy status for a period of time (see screenshot) and then goes back to showing “supervisor disconnected”. I’m working under the assumption that it is okay to restart HA at this point. But, again I don’t really know and could use some insight.
This issue remains unresolved. I was never able to restore the intended backup. I don’t know if I just didn’t wait long enough. 2.5 hours should have been more than long enough. The whole installation / restore process is really suboptimal, IMO, without any user feedback. Absolutely love HA otherwise, just not this part.
