Pros and Cons switching from Ubuntu virtual env to VHDX HA OS

Hi,

I am currently running HA on an Ubuntu server in a virtual environment. I am hesitating to switch to a HyperV VHDX HA OS image. I have more than enough resources to allocate. What would be the pros and cons of doing it?

What I can think of:

Pros

  • Easier updates
  • Easier to install add ons through the supervisor
  • Snapshots (which is not a big difference, I had a git repo for that)
    *???

Cons

  • I am not sure if I can utilize USB redirector to pass the Zwave/Zigbee dongle to the VM
  • ???

What else would you add to this list?

Hyperv for sure does NOT support usb passthrough

Hi,
My Ubuntu server is in HyperV as well, I am using a software called USD Redirector for USB passthrough. I am just not sure how could I install/run that service on the VHDX. Must be a solution for that, I will research a bit.
