Proximity Sensor: Precision (Decimals)

Hi! I love the proximity sensor bit would request one change: the ability to set a numerical precision, i.e. the number of decimal points for a calculated value.

As an example, I like to use proximity to determine how close I am to home, and for convenience, I prefer to use miles as the unit. (Why yes, I am American, how did you guess? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) However, this results in limiting the usefulness of the sensor… For instance, it will often read as stationary even though I’m clearly moving around often by several city blocks.

If I could set the numerical precision or decimal points of the sensor, this would be great. Then I and my automations could detect a change from e.g. 0.6mi to 0.5mi.

I know there are other ways around this, such as using a smaller unit, and/or creating template sensors to calculate a more precise value. However, this feature seems like it’d be relatively simple to implement with potentially significant benefits.

I can understand that

As I have understood, I read some discussion that HA should report values as is and not convert them.
All conversions should be done by the user.
I guess this applies to these sensors also.

Or you could change your preference in this case to use feet instead of miles.

I do that for my garage door opening automation using 1000 feet as the trigger.
