All,
Just a heads up for anyone who might own the HomeSeer Z-wave Leak Sensor LS100+
I’ve had a number of these devices for years and recently when the battery died on one, a new battery did not revive it. I replaced it with their updated version LS100 G8. A week later a second device had the same symptoms, which prompted me to do some searching on the HomeSeer Forums and I found this thread They just stop working??? - HomeSeer Message Board where someone identified that if you replace the original ER14250 battery with a rechargeable version Amazon.com: USB Lithium ion 14250 Rechargeable Battery, High Capacity 3.7V 300mAh 1/2 AA Size Rechargeable Can Replace 3.6 Volt LS14250 ER14250 CR14250 Batteries, Fast Charge with Type C Port Cable (4-Pack) : Health & Household they spring back to life.
This is due to the slightly higher voltage of the rechargeable batteries. I confirmed with my lab power supply that 3.6V and the device does nothing, but at 3.7V they work fine.
Saved me the $40 of replacing the second unit as well as now having 2 spares in the event they eventually do die. Also, now I don’t have to throw away these odd ER14250 batteries. They do have a decent lifetime, but the years add up.
Not sure what component is causing this, but just a heads up, you may not have to throw this device away after all.
