PSA: Logitech are discontinuing Harmony products :(

Just read that Logi are dropping all the Harmony products… real shame, wonder how long the cloud service backing it will survive for?!

Someone needs to bust open one of the Harmony Hubs and ram and ESP32 in there :joy:

Here is the official post

This sucks hard, nothing even comes close, physical remote wise.

I wish they would just make it open source and give it to the community

After trying many other solution, nothing comes close to the Harmony! (I don’t miss my Pronto days, either! ) My Harmony Elite is suffering from abuse, at the hands of my kids!
I’ve just ordered a replacement, before the panic really sets in!
:frowning:

Yes I’m amazed my two harmony elites have held up as well as they have given abuse from the hands of a 4 and 7 year old!

It would be incredible if they opened up control and gave more capabilities for the community to manage things without reliance on the Logitech cloud stuff, but sadly I can’t see that happening.

While mine weren’t abused by small children, I’ve had 3 of them running for over 6 years now. Yeah, there’s been up and downs for sure, but I’ve been really hard pressed to find anything that functions as well as they do. I’ve got a couple of Broadlink RM4 pros that I have been trying to get working as smoothly with HA as my Harmony Hubs do, but so far, I’m not really all that impressed with the RM4s.

Logitech bought Harmony years ago, no? My hope would be that they could/would at least sell off the division to someone who can run with it.

Wow, this is a real shame. I switched from Harmony to NEEO, but then NEEO sold their business to control4 so I switched back to Harmony.

I have been running the elite in one room and the companion in another for many years now with great results. The integration with HA works great as well!

I know it’s local control so at least it should keep working. Maybe disable automatic updates on the hub so they don’t brick it when they shutdown.

Are there alternatives to Harmony that work with Home Assistant? I’m super bummed that I just got a HADashboard for controlling all of my devices finished.

You could look at BroadLink. Works well.

LOL That’s subjective  To be fair, I absolutely hate the way that the Broadlink integration works and while I know this is because of how crappy their cloud is, I still hate it compared to the Harmony integration. It works, for sure, but it can be a nightmare to setup; Especially if you have a bunch of IR devices.

Completely agree that it isn’t as nice as Harmony. But after your devices are in there you can simulate the same capabilities as Harmony.

You can’t simulate the physical remote, they are very nice remotes besides the service itself.

To my knowledge the only thing that would kind of work like Harmony (but with quite a bit of elbow grease) would be a Flirc sensor and an IR remote of one’s choice, but that’s still IR-only, no control of Bluetooth things like an Apple TV or a PlayStation.

It’s a real shame they’re giving up, because things like HDMI-CEC are laughably useless for any scenario in which there’s an AV receiver between the media device and the TV.

I just found out about this, this is incredibly sad! There’s no alternative that even comes close. I really hope they will sell Harmony, or someone jumps into this gap.

Anyone have good experiences with Roomie Remote? That seems to be a decent alternative, but I would really miss the nice physical remote :frowning:

Yio remote looks nice… not sure how good it will end up being or how expensive… https://www.yio-remote.com/
