Python 3.8 readiness

Hi all,

The 0.103 blog post notes that the team is working on 3.8 readiness, but I can’t seem to find a tracking issue, or any relevant threads here. I’ve been searching with queries like "3.8" in:title both here and at GitHub with no results (but results present for the same query with 3.7). Does anybody know if there is an issue somewhere for this?

I updated my installation (0.103.6, venv, RPi4) to 3.8.1 yesterday, and it seems to be working with the exception of zwave, which has several dead devices that I haven’t sorted out yet. (I also don’t see any 3.8 specific issues with pyopenzwave.)

Anyone else running 3.8? If so, do you have zwave issues? If so, are there relevant threads or issues you could point me to?

Can you share how you upgraded to 3.8 (and from what version?)? I’m running 3.7.3 and am looking for how to safely upgrade to 3.8

I updated from 3.7…2? to 3.8 without difficulty. After this post, I think I reverted to 3.8 for another few weeks and then retried the update and it went without a hitch.
