QNAP Integration failing with unexpected error

Hi ,

Hope everyone is well.

I’m looking for some help please with the QNAP integration which much to my annoyance is not working despite trying everything I can thing of.

Until last week I had a Synology 2 bay NAS but a recent update to DSM 7.x bricked it ( it was about 10 yrs old thou) however the integration into HA worked very well.

But as I was so annoyed at Synology and their updates bricking my NAS I purchased a new QNAP instead.

But no matter what I try I cannot get the integration to work. It worked briefly for 5 mins then all entries went offline and I cant get it working.

I tried disabling 2FA on the QNAP - Nope
I tried a new user on the QNAP without and with 2FA -Nope

I have checked and read through all the posts on the same and googled it and I’m stuck.

Every time I try I get “Unexpected Error”

Also I cant use logbook or history as its not a device/entity that’s is in HA yet.

Can anyone help ? anyone else had this problem?

I appreciate any helpful feedback , thank you

Regards

Andy

What you are saying is that it does connect and you do see entites but only for a short while.
Extend the log level and send that for more insight…i.e. set it up, enable debug logging and check the logs after it died.

EDIT: could it be that you have some power savings stuff on your QNAP network card?
EDIT2: anything in the logs of QNAP?

Hi , thanks for the reply

Yes it did work very briefly, but once I had finished transferring my data to it , the entities it had created were disabled.

There isn’t anything on the qnap logs , I’ve tried watching the logs and signing in on the HA Qnap integration but nothing

Will check all the settings on the Qnap but I know the ports alive as I was logged in at the same time

Will have another go but not holding my breath

Thanks

? what do you mean, data from where, does this have anything to do with the HA integration ?

On the Qnap log it should at least show a connection from HA and possibly a loss ?
On HA, repeating to set it to debug and hopefully more will be presented

Hi

No worries I’ve got it working.

I found an older post where someone said they had disabled 2FA on all the QNAP accounts in the same groups . So I did that and it worked.

I’ve turned 2FA back on the QNAP so will see if that stops it working, which I suspect may have happened when I fist set the integration up.

Time will tell

Thanks for the help thou

Update !! Stopped working again. it worked for a couple of hours and I noticed a large number of the entities were disabled, so I re-enabled them and it lost connection straight away. I tried to re-install and same problem, but this time invalid authentication which I strongly suspect is due to the 2FA. So I think the only way around this is to create a user group on the QNAP with a single read only user for HA that does not have 2FA. Any thought if this is correct ?

Thank you

Andy

Well that worked ( for now) but what I don’t understand is the integration shows 22 entities available but only display information for 7 with the rest not shown. When clicking to show the other 15 they don’t have any information, and enabling them doesn’t change that. Im happy that its working and hopefully states that way , but curious as to why I cannot use all the entities?

Sorted I think … Needed to re-enable the other 15 entities and reload the integration and it looks to be working. Will monitor and see
