I have successfully installed hass.io (supervised) on my Qnap TS-453D Virtualization Station 3 and it seems to be running very well so far. One of my first missions with HA is lighting and I am leaning toward zwave devices for this. Before I run out and buy a usb stick:
- Is there anything I should be looking for to do this and is this the preferred way to bring zwave in (as opposed to Smartthings hub etc.) and can I expect issues setting this up on my Qnap (I am a Linux noob)?
- For switches I am leaning toward the Inovelli Red dimmable switches - these have some really nice features for additional automations and it is important that I retain basic light switch behaviour for the technically inept.
- Kitchen and family, living room all have pot light (Par 30) - any recommendations on a suitable bulb for this setup. I think the Inovelli switches have some hooks into the bulb to do additional lighting control but not sure if this is limited to their bulb product only. They don’t have Par 30 or A19 bulbs which is my other consideration.
Quite an adventure getting to even the basic setup I have, everything is a labourious reading exercise or youtube search and large chunks of knowledge are not applicable due to the dynamic changes as this system evolves.
Cheers,
