Question about unsupported installation method longevity

I’ve read through this post and others concerning the unsupported vs supported installation methods and I understand that my preferred installation method is unsupported. I am using supervised on Ubuntu.

However, what isn’t clear to me is if the new checks that determine that the environment is not supported will be used in the future to deny automated upgrades.

I get that I am responsible for my installation and not to seek support if an upgrade breaks my system in the future. That isn’t what I’m asking. All of that is on me.

In short, will “Unsupported” = upgrade script check denying the install of a new version in the future?

As far as the information I have : no. Unsupported = you can’t open an issue on github if you have a problem. You can still ask a question here

Yeah, that’s about the extent of what I’ve read but was wondering if anyone had heard what future plans were for the compatibility checks.

@frenck, Would you mind weighing in on this question when you have a moment?
