Question: Is there a better way then installing HASS.io inside Ubuntu Server inside Virtual Box VM inside Windows 10

Hi,

Is there a better way then installing HASS.io inside Ubuntu Server inside Virtual Box VM inside Windows 10?

Goals:

  • I want to keep using Windows 10 as the host operating system.
  • I want the part where I actually mess with Home Assistant to be as standard as possible
  • I don’t want to add extra layers, if they are not needed.
  • I want to be able to reconfigure automations in the least painful way possible.

I am not familiar with Docker at all. I am somewhat familiar with the basics of Linux.

After some looking, I found exactly the right how-to for getting Hass.io up and running on Ubuntu Server on Virtual Box.

The one thing it left out was getting the z-stick mounted into the VM and configured with Hass.io, Which took a little bit for me to figure out how to do.
