Question: UK Wifiplug integration

Hey all!

I have just purchased a WifiPlug (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MCR5276/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_YqTLBbWBABCEY ) which has HomeKit and IFTTT integration.

I haven’t used Home Assistant yet so haven’t explored what is and isn’t possible yet.

Is there a way to integrate this item into Home Assistant? I understand that the HomeKit component sends items to HomeKit from Home Assistant, but I need to get it into HA first of all.

Thanks in advance

Go here and seek, you shall find

So thats a “NO” then!!!

I went there and seeked, and did not find. There is NO “WIFIPLUG” components for HomeAssistant… Shame

What app controls it?

Does it work with tuya app? If so, there is a tuya component.

To the best of my knowledge it’s only controlled by it’s own WIFIPLUG app. There is an Amazon Skill (That is very flakey) and the plug outlets have HomeKit support. The light switches do not have HomeKit support, which it why it would be great to get them working on Home Assistant.
See here

I suggest you try the tuya app and see what happens. You won’t break it by doing so. If it works, bonus. If it doesn’t, you have contributed to the knowledge pool of what not to buy. (Or you have a project to integrate it  )

Hiya, I tried tuya but unfortunately no luck :frowning: I wish I knew how to make a component integrate it myself, but alas I’m not that clever! WIFIPLUG even have an open API for developers, so if anyone reading this is clever enough to build a WIFIPLUG component, please do.

Cheers guys!!!

An API that costs $. And it goes via their cloud. Yuk.

Yeah, I just noticed the costs!!! what a shame. The hardware is good but they have priced themselves out of the market. I’ll continue to use the devices I already have, but going forward I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Cheers, all the best

If the device is controllable over their network, it is controllable over your LAN. It is just a matter of finding how, which probably involves finding some encryption secrets. Someone will do it eventually

Representing WIFIPLUG here. There is no cost to use the API for non-commercial purposes, while it does use the cloud you can control locally without setting up on our cloud using HomeKit. As confirmed previously, we don’t use Tuya.

If you send in a support ticket we’ll gladly issue API keys.
