Greetings everyone. I have some questions regarding the implementation of Matter compared to Tuya Cloud in Home Assistant, and I would greatly appreciate your help and guidance.
My current setup
- I’m running Home Assistant on a virtual machine in my Synology NAS.
- Approximately 90% of my devices are Tuya brand.
- Currently, I have these devices connected to Home Assistant using Tuya in Cloud mode.
- Recently, I acquired a new Tuya HUB that’s compatible with Matter (model: Tuya Matter Hub).
- I’ve managed to configure this HUB in Matter (BETA) in my Home Assistant, and all devices appear and function correctly.
My questions
-
What are the main differences between using the devices through Matter compared to Tuya Cloud, as I’m doing currently?
-
If Matter operates on LAN and the devices are already detected and working in my Home Assistant, why do they disappear from both Matter and Tuya when I remove a device from Tuya?
-
What specific advantages would I gain by using the devices through Matter instead of continuing to use them with the Tuya app as I do now?
I would greatly appreciate your comments and experiences on this matter. If you need more information or screenshots, I’d be happy to provide them.
Thank you in advance for your help!
