I’m not even sure if im in the right place, but im pulling out my hair at this point. I bought a deadbolt and a Aeotec Z-wave USB stick. All I want to do is unlock and lock the door from my phone.
Everything Ive been trying is WAAYYYY to complicated for me.
Ive been following the how to install home assistant youtube that is on this website, and I did the install python thing, and my Command prompt has been running for over 2 hours " setting up? "
Also I was under the assumption that all I had to do was push the USB button and the door button, slap that USB stick into my router and download some app. This was not the case by far!
Deadbolts are secure, so there’s more hoops. Be sure you’ve set a key in your zwave options.xml (search forum for info) and do a secure include. The “press the button” include on the stick isn’t secure.
Yikes. You need to get a working install first before you figure out the lock stuff. Take a look at home-assistant.log and see if you get a clear reason why discovery failed.
Take a look at the install guides - get that squared away first.
