From what I can gather in the Rachio API documentation, there is a method for querying if the controller is currently running a cycle. In the present integration, there are controls, but no sensors for knowing when the controller is running a zone/schedule.
I would like to see sensors added to show if a zone or schedule is currently running.
The switches do exactly what you’re asking for. They show if a zone or schedule is running. I’m not sure what a sensor would show you that you don’t already get with the switch.
The switches do not change state when a zone is currently running. Case in point, HA currently shows Small Side Lawn as on, but in my Rachio app, nothing is running. If I try to flip this switch off, it just turns itself back on.
If I flip a different switch, it activates the zone properly, but it flips right back off and doesnt maintain the state of the zone.
That means you don’t have external access set up properly. The switches will show the state if set up correctly. Take a look at the Rachio integration docs.
My Rachio switches turn on when the zone is running and then off when they are not. I do wish there was a way to disable a Rachio schedule via HA though.
I don’t think that’s supported from the API.
