I’m replacing an existing system with Home Assistant. The system now controls a handful of Intertechno 230V switches via a built-in 433 MHz transmitter. After reading quite a few pages, I figured out that trying to get the switches to work with Home Assistant is not worth the effort and I should replace them. The switches sit in boxes in or on the wall and can be replaced fairly easily.
What I need are
Some simple relay switches (on/off)
A momentary switch (the current switch has an interval of 2 seconds but the device that it controls should be tolerant)
An “edge mode” switch which toggles when a state change is detected like shown in this diagram
Since I have some Zigbee devices, a product like the ZBMINIL2 or ZBMINIR2 would be my natural choice. Only from what I found, the ZBMINIR2 does not seem to support “edge mode” with a live wire.
However, I would be grateful for recommendations from people with more experience with Home Assistant and home automation in general in order to make the best choice. One specific question that I had is whether I should avoid switches that don’t use a neutral wire.
Thanks for your input @ferbulous. I do have a neutral wire where the switches are currently installed. I think I’ll get a few of the R2 pieces to see if these work well for me.
I was a little confused and ultimately got the ZBMINI version and not ZBMINR2. Good to clarify that. I think the ZBMINR2 is not any bigger than the small Intertechno switch.
I connected the ZBMINI by changing the wiring a little. The wire that used to connect the switches to the live wire is now connected to the S1 connector of the ZBMINI. For the ZBMINIR2 this would not have been needed, I think, but it was simple enough.
From what I found, no variant of the ZBMINI can act as a momentary switch. I ordered a garage door opener instead and hope to share an update soon.
