Rainforest Eagle-200, PG&E and Meter Price

I have a Rainforest Eagle-200 that’s enabled to stream data from PG&E. I also have it installed in Home Assistant and it appears to be working with the exception of the price of electricity. Usage is captured on the Energy Dashboard but the calculated price is always $0.
The integration does have an entity for electricity cost which has been added in the energy dashboard setup but here is what I’ve noticed:

  • The unit for the Meter Price entity is “None/kWh”. I’m not sure why that is, whether it affects the calculations or whether I can change it.
  • The cost of electricity changes throughout the day - which is to be expected but at 4PM the price jumps to ~$3.7 and at midnight to $18.5 though only for ~5 minutes. These are fortunately not the right prices but it looks like $3.7 is 10 times the cost that it settles at after 5 minutes and the $18.5 at midnight appear to be 100 times the cost of what it settles to after ~5 minutes.
  • Each day I have period from ~10:08AM to ~11:10AM where the integration doesn’t return any cost. Also at ~10:08AM the “energy delivered” entity is blank but that last only ~5 minutes.
  • The unit price when reported (with the exception of the spikes mentioned earlier) looks reasonable at first BUT when I compare the cost to what I get when I log into Rainforest portal where I also has setup my Eagle-200 the prices are slightly different. Example at the current time Home Assistant reports cost of 0.18531 “None/kWh” whereas on the portal the price is $0.18366/kWh

Has anyone an explanation for this? Has anyone successfully setup the Eagle-200 in Home Assistant and received reliable and correct data?

Did you ever get this resolved? I don’t seem to be getting any of the cost/pricing data.

I did not.
Currently I’m receiving cost of $0 with periods of no data.
