Rasberry Pi died...transfer SD Card to Home Assistant Green?

I’ve had a Rasberry Pi running HA for 18 months. I have a dozen or so automations on the instance, and tons of entities. Although I know most will be easy to reload, and maybe even healthy to start fresh, can I take the SD Card from the Rasberry Pi and install the instance on the HA Green? (I’ve already checked the drive via Mac Disk Utility and looks like it’s not corrupted.)

Thanks all!

Jon

No.

You can restore backups to the new system though.

I have NabuCasa. Will it be saved in the cloud? I don’t even know what it does but i have the monthly subscription.

No. That is for remote access not cloud backup.

OK, sorry for the back and forth. But how do I “restore backups to the new system” (on the HA Green) if I can’t insert the SD Card or use a cloud solution? Or did I misunderstand something?

Ideally you would have been automating backups stored off your SD card (as recommended here) though it does not sound like you have been doing that.

Have you been making backups?

If so you should be able to copy them off the SD card. See: How to access the Backup Files via SD Card - #6 by zymotik
