Raspberry Pi connected to Range Extender, iOS app won't work on main wifi

I am currently running Hass.io on a Raspberry Pi which is connected to a range extender through ethernet. However, my phone usually connects to the main router. I want to be able to use the Home Assistant App without having to switch the my range extender, however, I can’t seem to figure it out. I tried adding an Internal URL and adding my main network under the SSID section. I assumed this would work, but it does not. I also have a Nabu Casa Cloud account, which I thought should just work and solve this issue. Neither of these are working. I also can’t access anything from outside my home network, even though all the documentation says that if I have the Cloud account, it should just work. Any ideas?

Is there any reason you can’t connect the raspberry pi to your main router?

My routers Ethernet ports are all currently being used by other devices unfortunately. Any ideas of what I could do to solve this problem. I don’t understand why the cloud account isn’t working

Most likely the extender creates a new network and thus they are not visible to each other.

Solution: buy a switch.
You connect one cable from router to the switch and then the switch will be an “extension” of the router giving you x more ethernet ports.

Something like this:

Range extenders are messy and create havoc. Get yourself a proper WLAN / LAN setup like these:

gateway --> https://amzn.to/3mwIqCp
switch --> https://amzn.to/3mwIqCp
AP --> https://amzn.to/3mwIqCp

This will give you much better control of your network as well as insights into what is happening. You are then also able to get the stats from your connectivity into Home Assistant…

But for heavens sake, DONT USE RANGE EXTENDERS, they create their own networks and essentially, due to the nature of mobile devices, there is no proper handover between Range Extenders and the actual router SSID…
