Raspberry Pi4 with Home Assistant OS Crash

Sometimes my Home Assistant OS crashes on my Rasperry Pi 4 setup…

After that I’m unable to access the webpage,
unable access the Samba server.
I think I’m able to access the SSH server. ( haven’t tried that properly yet)
But what I mainly do is disconnect the power of the RPI4 and let it boot again.

Sadly enough that isn’t a real remedy… And I would like to find some more info about why it’s crashing

All I can find is the below pasted part in the home-assistant.log.1 file but this doesn’t really contain the info why it really crashed…

Setup:

Rasperry Pi 4 with 4GB
Home Assistant OS installed on SSD
Installed extra fan on RPI to get a lower CPU/GPU temp.
Zigbee stick ( USB)
Rflink module (USB)

Top two reasons for HA on Rpi random crashing are:

  1. SD card wears out (you’re on SSD- so this is not you)
  2. borderline / failing power supply. Go find a good quality USB power adapter that puts out at LEAST 3Amps. I use the CanaKit 3.5a adapter on mine

Eliminate these causes first… Then if it continues, start debugging.

Good point , thanks for pointing that one out about the power supply. This also seems to be good
I most say it rarely occurs that it crashes.
So I guess I do need to dig in the debugging part

Would there be any other way to reboot/restart the RPI with brutally pulling the power out of it?

I do not use that chart to determine if the supply is ‘good.’ They’re so cheap - just buy a new one and eliminate it as the possibility. (I keep two spares, just in case.)

Alright , point taken.

But I would be expecting it occurring more over the time, the crashing  . If the power supply would be getting an issue?
I’m coming from an Intel Nuc which didnt really had any of those problems like crashing the OS.

But I will take a look out on the decent spare power supply !
