Raspberry + VeraEdge

Hello all,

I’ve beem using VeraEdge z-wave hub for some years now.
I’m thinking in configurating a raspberry whit home assistant, but i would like to know if i can use the veraEdge as the z-wave interface or do i have to buy a z-wave usb stick?

Thanks in advance
Pedro

Welcome!

There is a Vera integration which means you would still need to configure the devices on the VeraEdge. The Z-Wave network, except for any encryption keys, is in the Z-wave controller that is part of the VeraEdge.

This integration is designed as a way of migrating totally away from Vera to Home Assistant. Most people use a USB Z-Wave stick as a controller. Be careful you get one that supports your world region. Another option is the Zwave,me controller that plugs in to the Pi GPIO. Personally I prefer a USB stick because it provides a way to move to s more powerful hardware platform in the future, if needed.
