Reading Australian smart meters via Zigbee working setups

There is another topic “Reading Australian smart meter data” with 140+ replies. But that got swamped by people talking about scraping/pulling meter data from distributor portals and web services. I’m not interested in that approach and want to use Zigbee capabilities that are supposedly built into most Australian smart meters specifically. AFAICT there is only one report of someone successfully connecting to their smart meter over Zigbee.

We know, at least in Victoria, all smart meters are required to support Zigbee v1.2 Smart Energy Profile (see Minimum AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Functionality Specification). Also, all (??) Vic distributors have a process (either email or web form) for adding Zigbee devices to the Zigbee HAN. I’m interested to hear from people who have actually successfully associated a IHD and/or other Zigbee devices with their Australian smart meter, and:

  1. What state?
  2. What distributor?
  3. What smart meter?
  4. What device?
  5. Any issues or problems you had or other comments?

Sorry mate I can’t help with your quest.
I went down the path of a Shelly 3EM to monitor each of my grid phases separately. That works well for helping to “keep the bastards grid supplier honest” by allowing me to verify my bills.

NSW - smart meter, installed in 2016 - the device itself can be configured with a zigbee dongle. But isn’t.
