I occasionally need to reboot the physical HAOS device, which I have installed on an RPi 5. When I select “Reboot System,” sometimes it turns off the RPi 5 instead of rebooting. I ended up needing to power-cycle the device to boot it back up. There is an option to shut it down, but that is NOT what I had selected. I’m curious if others might have had this situation.
Do you by any chance have a powered USB hub connected to the pi?
My first guess would be: not enough power to go through the reboot process so it shuts down.
It is possible that this could be the reason. I have two non-standard things attached to my Pi 5, a NVMe board and a PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD and a PoE+ HAT that provides 25.5 watts of power. I believe the official power supply is 27 watts, so it is about 2.5 watts less. I have other Pi 5 devices with PoE+ HATs and to my knowledge I have not had any issues with too low of power, but maybe the SSD pulls more than I thought. The other Pi 5 with PoE+ and SSD has not given me such issues. The only difference is the HAOS is an 8GB RAM model instead of a 4GB device. Maybe more RAM requires more power.
