Have my HA running on a PI and it’s just fallen over. 99% sure its the micro SD as that reports as having issues in windows and when I try a repair it tells me the card is write-protected which it’s not. People online are saying this is a sign the card is shot, its also been very doggy the last few weeks.
So will look at doing a VM on my QNAP, the question is can I get any sort of restore info from the mico SD? Its readable in Windows
If you made snapshots, they will be located in /usr/share/hassio/backup as tar files.
If you didn’t make snapshots, then you’ll want to collect whatever yaml files you can find in /usr/share/hassio/homeassistant and json files in this hidden directory: /usr/share/hassio/homeassistant/.storage
The card has Linux formatted partitions. Windows will not be able to access them without software like linux reader (free). Your card could very well be ok. You certainly should not be “repairing” it using a windows PC.
When you put the card back an run the system, can you ping the IP address?
Can you still access the system using SSH rather than the web interface?
Well see what configuration files you can recover with Linux reader. When you get a system up and running again make sure you implement a backup system that automatically takes snapshots and copies them off your system. There are many ways of doing this (solutions exist for copying to google drive or a SAMBA share).
