hey all, i have been recently on the search for some good not too expensive home treadmills and have been thinking about getting one to connect to home assistant
i am trying to look for something that can be controlled through home assistant in one way or another, as an example an automation can stop the treadmill or speed it up, or the more i increase the treadmills speed it can trigger scripts/automations to go off such as changing a lights colour the faster i turn up the treadmill.
i dont know if any of this is possible or (if it is) how the best way to go about it would be but I’m open to any suggestions for treadmills / ways to do this kind of thing
I don’t know of any treadmills that can be controlled via HA, but I monitor mine with an Aqara smart plug. Currently I have it just set to detect the electricity increase from when it’s in standby mode. Currently it will just turn off a lamp that causes a glare on the TV, but as the speed increases it uses more electricity so that could potentially be used for other automations. I just haven’t felt the need for anything else.
Definitely get a quality plug, I had a cheaper one that would trigger the circuit breaker if I got above a certain speed which would abruptly stop the tread and was a pretty dangerous situation.
