Companion App opens Safari and has no own menu anymore.
yeah i hit something like this recently. companion just shoved the dashboard into safari and the menubar icon basically died. reinstalling the latest macos companion build from the ha companion github releases got the native window back for me, not sure if thats still the fix. what version shows under about?
The version shown is frontend 20260826.4 or app 2026.9.0 (app info, because the about option disappeared with the menu)
I’m on Android, but almost the same happens to me.
Launching companion app opens a chrome window, with a strange url.
I have to close the chrome window, and sometimes it comed back to Home Assistant app.
This started after last core update to 2026.9.0
In the meanwhile another question, why companion app disappear from the recent apps, even if stil running?
I have the same problem since 26.9.0. opening the companion app opens the browser (in my case this is Firefox), which then says it can’t connect to home assistant. Closing the browser and trying again usually works.
9.1 is now available, fixed it for me
