Recommendation for a WiFi downlight / spotlight

Hi.

I want to add a couple of downlight/spotlight to my bedroom, something like this:

I found that Tuya is a supported integration so these might work:

https://expo.tuya.com/product/393586

https://expo.tuya.com/product/668031

Also, Zemismart is supported (not sure why the higher price though)

And even Shelly is supported as well.

Having said that, I see there are different options to achieve my goal and that’s why I come here for help. Do you have any experience with these devices? Any of them is better than the other? Are there any other options?

Have a great Sunday.

That many bulbs will be expensive.
Are you looking at RGB or just white?
If just white then perhaps regular bulbs and a dimmer to control them all?

Shelly bulbs make funny noises but are great for local control.
It’s not the same in the video as you want but as far as I know all shelly products have the same backend.

I’m using MiLight GU-10 RGB-WW bulbs with a MiLight Wifi controller.
They are not the cheapest, but way cheaper, than let’s say Philips.

They are absolutely noiseless, fast response, allways response bulbs.
They are supported by Home Assistant.

But it’s all about the light, is it not? And that’s exactly, why i choose these. Very evenly spread of the light, all colors come out as intended and lots of brightness.

I actually wonder, why they are not mentioned more often on forums like this one. They deserve better. I’m very happy for my choice.

And MiLight also has those flat downlights, like the Zemismart, i just can’t say, how they are. I only have MiLight panels, one 30x30 cm and one 120x60 cm and they both are also excellent.

That was just an example. I only need 2

I think I like Shelly and their noises :joy:

I’m looking for the same thing now.

I’ve run around looking at samples, most downlights are not RGBW, and RGBW choices are still a lot fewer. Most downlights only allow a choice of warm white, neutral white, or cool white. The majority are one-color only, and there are some that are not dimmable.

I narrowed found out there are two types of RGB downlights:

  • RGBW spotlights - these are basically movable casings that hold downlight bulbs. The downlight bulbs can be RGBW so the controllers and everything are embedded, and they are replaceable. they can have smaller diameters, but the light is not as diffused.

  • RGBW downlights - all of these use their own controller, they have a bigger diffuser, have bigger casing (hence bigger heatsink), can run up to a higher wattage/brightness, and their direction cannot be moved.

Then there’s the customization option,
If you can find a cheap downlight casing, and it’s easy to open an flag inside,
there are some shops that can pull out the existing led panel, and paste in the LED strips of your choice.
If you paste in SK6812 strips inside a downlight casing then you can get a downlight that’s controllable by WLED, which makes them really flexible and potentially more efficient power-wise (if you have a DC setup such as those with solar power), and fully integrated with home assistant — although the downside is you’ll be using your own power supply, controller, and low voltage wires.
