I’m looking to extend my Zigbee network as I have the Coordinator down in the basement and a couple of Philips Hue bulbs in the second floor. The main floor is mostly sensors.
I want to add a router device on the main floor, and I have a perfect place to add a couple of bulbs (power will always be on there). I got a couple of white tunable Sengled bulbs but apparently and unfortunately all Sengled bulbs don’t act as routers.
I don’t mind if they’re RGBWW, that works too but will probably increase the price. I looked at the Philips white ambience Hue lights but they’re not cheap.
I don’t think that Hue bulbs are expensive considering their long lifetime. I have my hue bulbs for more than 7 years and not a single one of them ever needed replacement.
I agree with you, Hue bulbs are great; You do get what you pay for.
It’s just that would be an overkill as I’ll need 3 bulbs there so the color/temperature is exactly the same between them. Getting 3 Hues there would not be cheap. Currently I have 3 Philips Wiz there.
I might consider getting a different type of device to act as router in the main floor, I just don’t have a as perfect place as this.
