Recommendation on saving UI config and/or entity registry in Git repo?

After using HA for more than a year now, I am finally switching to the Lovelace UI now. I do like the UI editor, but would still like to include my UI config inside my Git repository.
A similar question comes up with the entity registry: When I change the friendly name or even the entity id of a discovered entity (e.g. from its Zigbee MAC address to something readable to be used inside an automation), I would consider these changes to be integral parts of my config that should also be part of the Git repository.

Are there any (potentially official) or personal recommendations on how to deal with files inside the .storage folder? How do other people handle this?

Thanks and kind regards,
Felix
