Hello Everyone,
I’m new to Home Assistant, however I do have some simple automation experience (smart bulbs, sensors, etc but rather on the SmartThings platform).
I’m renovating a recently bought house and my electrician informed me that I will have to rewire my electricity from scratch. Of course this provides me some opportunities as well.
After doing several hours of research, I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options as things like Zigbee, smart switching etc are all new to me.
I’m listing a few of my “requirements”:
-
I like a mix of smart bulbs (for color scenes mainly) and regulard bulbs (I don’t need color scenes in my utility room or garage)
-
I would prefer to work with wireless lighting switches, but it is not a hard requirement if my setup wouldn’t work.
The idea I have is to do the following:
-
Have a power cable run from every light point or group of lights to the fuse box to provide the lights with power
-
Connect the power cables not directly to the fuses but use something like Shelly/Zonoff in this box so I can control normal bulbs
-
If I use smart bulbs, I need to be able to program the relay to keep the power on the lights because a smart bulb without power is useless
-
For both scenario’s work with wireless Zigbee switches
So my questions are:
- Does it make sense what I’m doing?
- Any recommendations in terms of brands for me on lighting switches and/or the smart relays? (I live in Belgium)
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
BeeGee
