Reconnecting Tado x Thermostat to Home Assistant After Thread Network Deletion

Hello! New user here trying to get my Home Assistant Green working.

I’m having trouble reconnecting my tado X thermostat to Home Assistant after a series of unfortunate events that deleted the thread border router on the ZBT-1. I could use some help…

I managed to connect tado X on Matter via a ZBT-1 thread border router. It was working ok, with limited capabilities of course. But now this border router network got deleted.

Now I’m trying to reconnect tado X to HA via Matter again, but the device is still looking for the old thread network. To be exact, the error message is “Can’t connect to thread network ha-thread-xxxx”.

I’ve tried the following steps:

  • Setting up a new thread network on ZBT-1 in HA
  • Factory resetting the tado X thermostat (multiple times!)
  • Pairing the thermostat again via Matter integration in HA
  • Pairing the thermostat again via the tado app
  • Restarting HA

The device seems stuck searching for the old network. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

So you are not using the internet bridge? Is anything else currently on the ZBT-1 and working?

No, ZBT-1 is exclusively working on Thread.

I managed to solve the problem by turning on and off both the WiFi and Bluetooth connections on my phone.

That’s something I forgot to restart…
