I use IP Symcon since years and like the archive feature there, because compared with the SQlite, SQL and even Influx DB the data amount for years are nothing compared to the default recorders available.

The space I currently need for 2500 variables in the last five years are 6GB / year, my Home Assistant mariadb uses since 3 weeks 7GB
The “nice” feature about IP Symcon archive are:
- small, fast, lightweight
- aggregated files for all graph zoom levels created in the background
- easy purge → all data are stored in a folder structure time based
- easy migration of one entity to an other system
