Regarding Bluetooth...can this happen?

I’m running HA as a VM in Unraid which, unfortunately, has no BT capabilities. I suppose I could add a BT adapter, but I’m not sure what to install. That’s not the question, however. Although I would like a bit of insight as to whether I should install a BT card or a USB card that I can add a BT adapter to and then pass it through.

The real question is this:

Is it possible, once I have BT up and running on my system, to control something like WLED via BT.

Here’s what I want to do. In our community there are lamp posts each about 100 feet apart or so. I would build a separate microcontroller attached to an led strip for each lamp, install a power outlet between the light socket and the existing lamp, and plug a 12 or 5v power supply into it to power each light strip. Then, I want to be able to control all of them through HA.

Unless I can “repeat” the WIFI network over those devices, the only solution I see is bluetooth, and since a recent update extends BT through each device??? I figure this is how it would work. Am I correct? Can this scenario work?

I’m not sure where you read this.

This is probably what op is referring to:
Bluetooth Proxy — ESPHome

As to the specific use case -
BT Proxy proxies Bluetooth over WiFi - it’s not a BT Mesh. Also you’re not getting 100 feet for Bluetooth unless it’s BT4.0 AND perfect conditions. So you’re using Wifi of some breed for this.

My understanding is that each Bluetooth proxy needs to connect to HA via wi-fi. They do not communicate between themselves via Bluetooth.

Also, at the moment, the Bluetooth proxys can only receive data from sensors. They can’t control things. This will come in time.
