If it is technically possible, it would be very useful if we could load changed custom_components without restarting. I imagine a service that first reloads the file from the filesystem and then re-initializes it.
I would love to have this feature as well. I have a custom component for a climate thermostat (AtagOne) but as the device sucks: doesn’t have a stable wifi connection, I ofter get a timeout error and a missing thermostat in HA when rebooting/restarting HA. A restart option for that single component would prevent me from restarting HA until it gets a connection at startup and I don’t risk that all my automations are disabled due to the frequent restart…
