Remote access - ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Hey I’m completely new to Home Assistant. I’m running Home Assistant on an old Laptop inside of VM. I was trying to to set up the remote access but when I try to connect I get this error message: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED in Chrom

I set it up using Duck DNS and port forwarding. I checked the config file and it’s fine. I have no idea why this is happening…

and again I’m completely new to this so please be kind
thanks :slight_smile:

this is the error

Did You solved Your problem ?

I am Currently having similar one after update. Before it Duck, Nginx worked perfectly.

Anyone has fixed this problem?, just received a new modem and this is happening now

Well I did not remember what that was precisely but it works now I would start with checking:

  • port forwarding (You have to forward both ports 80 and 443) < most likle since You have new modem.
  • disabling firewall on Your router/modem.
  • checking logs both duckdns and nginex;
  • checking if VM has connection to internet from shell;
  • checking if duckdns has right IP comparing to eg: https://www.whatismyip.com.

Well what i did, is to install add-guard in homeassistant.
than rewrite dns (from the filter menu in add-guard)
and use the dns from that machine in my ddrwrt router, just forced to use that dns
and i can connect again :slight_smile:

the only port i needed to open was 443 > 8123 thats it, nothing else
