Has anybody got HTML5 push notifications setup and working with the Nabu Casa cloud interface?
Following the instructions to set up push notifications I get stuck when trying to verify the domain on Google Webmaster Central. I’m guessing that HA doesn’t expose the files in <config>/www/ so you can’t complete the verification process of saving down the google.html file.
It worked fine for me. A couple of things you should check:
If you needed to add the www folder, then this won’t get exposed until you restart Home Assistant
The www folder shows up under https://your Home assistant URL/local and so you actually need to include the /local part when you enter it in Webmaster Central to verify it, otherwise it will look for the file under the root of the site.
Thanks for the tips, I have it working now - I swear I did the same thing as last time but probably not…
Is there a way to get your login to stick on your phone? I get the notifications fine for a while after I have gone to the remote.nabucasa and logged in, but after a while they stop as I’m guessing the login session has expired or something?
During the Google verification process I read the following:
“Your Google Account will be recorded in Google’s systems as an official owner of this property.
Note - your ownership information will be stored and be visible to other owners (both current and future).”
Is this something I should be worried about (I am a complete amateur so generally pretty clueless)?
TIA
I think I need to generate a new webhook specifically for this Google service. I have an Owntracks webhook. And of course this won’t work (I did try!). I can see on the Nabu Casa site that one can create a webhook by creating an automation. But presumably I don’t need to do that. How can I generate a new webhook for the HTML5 push service?
TIA
I am trying to set this up for the first time but am only seeing options to verify my domain by CNAME or TXT DNS records. I don’t think I have access to my Nabu Casa DNS records.
Is there a way to proceed? Either by using the verification technique used by others in this thread, or by modifying the Nabu Casa DNS records? I also own a few domains of my own, could/should I use them instead?
I am trying to figure that exact thing out. I don’t see how I can change the url in webmaster central to include /local
Any help is appreciated
Thank you
EDIT: I just figured this out… That was stupidily easy, when entering your domain name in webmaster central, at the very beginning, you just need to enter it with /local/ at the end. Eg verify domain name “https://xyz.ui.nabu.casa/local/”
indeed local = www folder
but drop the html5 support/notiftcations, they are not relaible, your android will no wakeup from sleep
i dropped, i am now using pushover service
