Remote access not working from other countries

Hello community,

After setting up DuckDNS+SSL I can connect with my mobile device to HA without problems.
But recently I was on vacation in Italy and Spain and couldn’t connect to HA with by mobile device.

I am running HassOS on a RPi3 and use a script to send my ipv6 to DuckDNS (ipv4 ist not in use because unfortunately I have a DS-Lite connection → Vodafone). Like I said I never had an issue in Germany with a mobile connection.

Ist there a problem if the mobile carrier in an other country does not support ipv6 or could it be an other problem?
Any suggestions how to fix this? I read about reverse proxy from NGINX. Would this fix this and give me a reliable connection no matter where I am and wich connection I’m using?

Glad about any suggestions.
Andreas

Firewalls can block / allow communication based on country of origin. Perhaps in your setup only connections from Germany are allowed.

Do you mean the firewall on my router?
Unfortunately the hardware ist from my internet provider and very limited in function.
The only option is to disable the firewall completely and I prefer not to do this😉
And it ist difficult for me to do try it out because the connection works when I’m in my t-mobile network anyways.

Somewhere in the chain, duckdsn → ha
