Remote access problem - Unable to fetch auth providers

So having finally got port forwarding working into my network (it seems that you have to set up port forwarding on the Virgin Media Hub 4 as well as on the router, despite the hub operating in modem only mode) then with Duck DNS and Let’s Encrypt:

  • https://xxx.duckdns.org:8123 works from a browser within my LAN
  • it also works from a browser outside my LAN (once I’d set the flag allowing the user to log on from outside)

But the Android app won’t connect. It says “Unable to fetch auth providers. homeassistant://auth-callback”.

What does that mean and how do I fix it please?

Hopefully you have managed to fix this by now but I had the same problem except I couldn’t access via a browser on my Android device. Worked on an iPhone so I knew it was something with the device. Turns out after a lot of trialling that Chrome needed an update. That sorted both the browser access and the app.

No, haven’t looked at it again (I won’t need it to work until January so there isn’t a lot of immediate incentive). But some other things have changed so I’ll try again one day.

I have a very similar issue. I have HA running as a VM and have Duck DNS and NGINX set up. I can access HA from my PC on the local network using both local and duckdns.org. However on the companion app (on Android) remote HA access isn’t working - at least not normally - if I go via VPN it works! I can’t figure out the issue, everything is up to date and I have checked all the settings over and over. No idea what the problem is, please post if you work it out!

I had similar problems … HA on local network accesible from PC and chromebook but not from Android (old tablet with Android 6.0)
I managed to solve the problem by installing letsencrypt certificates manually on android device.
see this instructions :

Clear your browser history. That’s how it worked for me.
