Remote entities (like the Harmony Hub) do not work with scenes. It was mentioned in this GitHub thread (https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/issues/28839) but that was closed. Is this still being addressed? It seems a bit odd that you have a scene to prepare to watch TV or a movie and cannot turn on the TV…
You could create a script that would turn on both the Harmony activity and the scene. Then, just call the script in the UI or through a voice assistant.
Thanks. I used a similar workaround with a virtual switch (input boolean). The scene triggers the virtual switch, which in turn triggers an automation. It still seems odd that you have to use these kinds of workarounds. I cannot see any reason why a scene would not support a remote…
because you can use a script… there’s no difference between a scene and a script. Scene just has a different configuration.
I maybe wrong but the subtle difference is in activation: using Google Assistant, with a scene you can start it by ‘activate scene’ whilst with a script or automation, you say 'turn on '…
I wouldn’t know, I don’t use google assistant.
