Remote HDDTemp / tcp not working

Hi all,

There are these two integrations

hddtemp - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io)

TCP - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io)

Neither of these work for me. I always get an error. Does remote gathering of hddtemp data / tcp data not work on a VM install? The hddtemp host works when accessing via telnet from a pc within my network.

Edit// Seems to be an UTF-8 encoding issue, python seems not to be able to process the response from the remote hddtemp instance. Are there any solutions?

It don’t know will it work for you, but you can give it a shot.

I’m looking for a “built-in” solution if possible, I could also write a small script to publish the data over MQTT, but if there’s already something that works ootb, I would take it ofc.
