You did an excellent job detailing the integration between Home Assistant and RTI using the Two-Way Strings driver. Thanks to your guide, I was able to successfully set up a full two-way integration between RTI XP-8s and Home Assistant. I even managed to implement Apple TV control with feedback directly on RTI remotes — which is impressive considering RTI hasn’t had a working Apple driver for a long time and only supports one-way IR control.
Regarding the HTTP Commander driver you mentioned — it’s a paid “HTTP to XP” driver. However, there’s an online library of third-party RTI drivers available where you can find and download many of them. Not all are free, but the “HTTP Rest Client” driver is included there and might be suitable for your needs:
