I tried to recover an ESPHome yaml file using the HA backup/restore feature.
It worked but now I have two instances of ESPHome in the sidebar.
I can turn one off using the toggle on the Addon info page but the other remains so I suspect that even uninstalling will not necessarily get rid of the duplicate.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Have you cleared your browser cache then restarted the browser? Also did you try turning it off in the sidebar edit?
That does not turn it off, that just hides it.
Do you have two instances of the addon?
No. There is only one instance of the addon.
And clearing the browser cache did not help.
It sounds like you restored the ESPHome addon instead of the yaml file. The yaml file is just in config/esphome.
Uninstall the addon (you won’t lose anything), reboot home assistant (not restart) then reinstall the addon.
I uninstalled the addon. There was still one instance of ESPHome in the sidebar.
ESPHome still appeared in the addons menu but if when I clicked on it the only available command was install.
I run HA in a VM so I did a soft shutdown of the VM and then restarted.
When HA came back up it was in the same state. There was one instance on ESPHome in the sidebar and ESPHome in the addons menu waiting to be installed.
I checked the ESPHome folder in Config. It looks normal, no duplicates.
As soon as I reinstalled ESPHome there were two appearances in the sidebar again.
Nothing unusual in the ESPHome log.
Sounds like you may have a ghost container. Unfortunately as Portainer is no longer available as an addon I’m not sure how to fix this.
Try in CLI: ha supervisor repair
Using one of the two available terminal addon or using SSH
Finally decided to reboot the Windows 10 system that is running my Virtual Box environment. After doing that there were two instances of ESPHome in the HA Addons menu.
Three tries later I was able to successfully uninstall one of them.
Another lesson learned!
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
