Remove Unifi Device Track Entities

I ended up with about a dozen iPhone and iPad entries in my device tracker via the Unifi integration. I was allowing new devices and forgot to disable it when my kid had friends over. Can I just tick through the Enity Registry in the Configuration section and delete all of the ones that I do not want?

Couple of side questions:

Does the “Enable entity” slider work for the Unifi integration?
Do the Unifi configuration variables listed here still work? If so, I could filter out devices on my Guest SSID.

You can choose to disable tracking according to your use cases. You can also choose to disable entities as they are created. You can select to disable entities you don’t want through the entity registry

So if my use case is that, ideally, I only want to track mobile devices (phones and tablets) on my non-guest WLAN via the Unifi integration, how would I set that up? Can I somehow whitelist only the devices I want tracked?

How can I do this? Is there a way to get notified of new entities or an approval process prior to adding?

If you go into your Unifi Integration and press the Cog and disable everything.

Then all entities from UniFi should be disabled. You can then go to entity registry and enable those select devices you want to track

When I disabled the three options (network clients, wired devices, network devices) and restarted HA, I was able to see that all devices were disabled. I then went into Entity Registry, found a device that I wanted enabled, clicked the cog, but the entity was already marked as enabled and the device shows as “unavailable” It does not seem that you can enable individual devices when you disable everything in the Unifi integration

Followed these instructions, then went to configuration > entity registry and removed the entities that I didn’t want anymore, but now I’m stuck with a whole bunch of garbage inside of the Unifi integrations page. Looks like this:

Its not garbage. Those are devices, just that Hass doesn’t support information with device registry yet. Unifi Integration knows its information isn’t better than a real integration (say Hue integration) so rather than adding poor information that might override information from Hue integration, it doesn’t add any information at all. This will improved down the line

I dont know if something has changed since the info in this thread but I am having trouble with my new HA install with the unifi integration.

First I tried to enable device tracking, it added all the devices and entities as you would expect. Then, I disabled the devices I didnt want (everything except cell phones i disabled). WIthin a few seconds all the entities i disableds were automatically re-enabled. I tried multiple times with the same result.

I then tried what I found in this thread, I disabled the 3 tracking options and they all disappeared as expected from entities however they are not available to be re-ennabled as you said they should be.

Yes there are some logical chances in that disabling tracking on options levels now removes related entities completely.

About devices coming back that’s a bug which I haven’t been able to reproduce myself. With the latest beta the bug behaves differently but haven’t yet tried to reproduce it

Thanks, can I ask what you recommend on how to handle it currently?

Try to live with it

I was thinking of trying to add a new SSID, set device tracking to only use that one whitelisted SSID, and then connect the phones i want to track to that SSID.

Would that work?

It probably could work :+1:t2:
