Reolink Cameras and P2P Question

I’ve ordered a couple of Reolink E1 indoor cameras and whilst researching how to get them into HA I came across some online articles about concerns over the security of Reolink cameras, specifically concerning P2P.

One of the more comprehensive articles can be found here

These will be my first security cameras and I know virtually nothing about P2P so, should I now be concerned about installing these cameras in my HA setup? Anything I can do to make them more secure?

One other article mentions “… If disposing of the device is not possible, the P2P functionality may be effectively neutered by blocking outbound traffic to UDP port 32100…”. but I don’t know if this is correct or effective so would welcome advice.

If need be I will not even open the boxes and just return them for refund.

Curious too, had the same question today.

Well they’ve arrived and I’ve not even taken the cellophane off them as I’m too concerned about using them until someone with better knowledge than me can advise.
A reputable brand too from what I understand.

Hi @c0ntax and @Geeforce, here some information about P2P works on Reolink cameras : Introduction to P2P or UID
Through the reolink webpage, you can disable this functionnality.
The effect of that is you can not communicate to the cameras through internet (only on local network) with the Reolink smartphone app (android of ios). It’s added more security if this is your will.
