Reolink doorbell chime (V2) control volume

I have a Reolink video doorbell installed (the 2024. version with V2 chime). The Reolink integrations works very well, but as far as I can see there is no control of the chime from the integration.

I would like to mute the chime in certain scenarios and set it to full volume in others.

Is there any way to do this from home assistant?

Hey,
I see @starkillerOG implemented chime support.
However the chime does not show up in my home assistant.
I am on the latest firmware and tried re-adding the doorbell to my home assistant.
Maybe you can give it a try.
I could not find any specific instructions how to add it.

@ikocijan yes as of HA 2024.8.0 released yesterday you can now control V2 chimes in Home Assistant. The chime should show up as a seperate device in HomeAssistant with controls for the volume, the LED and the ringtone per detection type. In HA 2024.9.0 support will be added to play a ringtone of the doorbell using a action/service.

@mc74909 Have you already updated to HA 2024.8.0?
Are you able to control the chime from the reolink mobile app?
If the chime is paired to the doorbell and the doorbell is added in HomeAssistant it should show up as a seperate device, no configuration needed.

If you can control the chime in the Reolink mobile app and it does not show up in HA 2024.8.0, please make a issue on github and post the diagnostic data file, then I can resolve any potential issue.

If you appreciate the reolink integration and want to support its development, please consider sponsering the upstream library or purchase Reolink products through this affiliate link.

@starkillerOG Yes I am on HA 2024.8.0.
But I’m starting to wonder if I have a V2 chime. I’m not able to control it from the app either. Is there I way for me to know if I have a V1 or V2 chime?

On the sticker of a V2 chime it states:

Product name: Reolink Chime
Hardware: V2

You also need a V2 or V3 doorbell, the V1 doorbell can not be paired with a V2 chime.
Hardware version of the doorbell should be printed on the back of the doorbell. If not stated on the sticker it is V1

Seems I am out of luck. Thank you for the answer.

I was going to ask the same question after I saw it in the release notes and wondered why I couldn’t see the chime entity. I checked the chime and there is nothing on it denoting it is v2.

I only got the Doorbell and chime in January, slightly irritating that it’s v1 and we are already on v3. it isn’t even 8 months old yet! Hey ho…

Sorry about that, nothing I can do about it…

You can check the back of your doorbell, if it is V2 it is compatible with the Chime V2 although it may have shipped with chime V1.
In that case you could consider buying a seperate chime V2 as they are now available on the reolink site: Reolink Chime – Digital Chime Perfect for Reolink Video Doorbell | Reolink Official

For those who have been unsuccessful at integrating the chime into home assistant, are you using an NVR? I had the doorbell set up independently of an NVR and the chime showed up with all of the configuration options. As soon as I switched over to using the integration through the wireless NVR the chime was no longer available. I have been searching for a way to get it back but have been unsuccessful. All of the other camera functionality appears to be intact using the NVR but the chime is not. I can’t seem to find much on the web addressing this specific topic.

Yeah that’s the same behavior I have with my doorbell chime. You can actually set up both, doorbell through nvr then set up doorbell separately but disable the doorbell device and that will just leave you with nvr doorbell.

Like others, I have a V2 chime but I also connect it via an Nvr. The chime entity is missing. Is this a known limitation or is there a workaround?

When you say “set up doorbell separately” what do you mean? Do you mean physically disconnect from nvr and connect to router, or do you mean do something in software while doorbell is physically connected to nvr? If the latter, how do you do that?

Could someone make a core github issue for the chime not working when connected to a NVR?
I will investigate this, but it is much easier for me to track this if it is a github issue on HA core.
