Hello,
a few weeks ago [HA version 2024.7.x] I have added a Reolink POE Doorbell to my home and to home assistant. While the doorbell and immediate integration work out of the box, I do have some issues with the setting a custom auto reply message.
Use case:
When home I would like the doorbell to inform the visitor that we are on our way after 5 seconds. (for impatient parcel delivery guys…)
When we are not home I would like the doorbell to not play an auto reply message.
When using the standard (English) auto reply message “Hi, we will be right there. Please wait a moment”. Then this is easily automated with the standard integration.
Just switch off the message when not home, and reselect this message when home.
However I need a dutch auto reply message, and not an english one.
Fortunately the Reolink doorbell allows for custom messages to be recorded, next to the firmware default messages.
But unfortunately, the HA Reolink integration does not see these custom messages, so they can not be selected using the UI.
Attempts:
- Selecting the custom message in the Reolink app/web page, and disabling/enabling it via HA, will result in one of the default messages being loaded upon re-enabling it when someone is home (only via HA).
- Trying to use the prev / next auto reply message methods, results only in the default messages being used.
- Trying to directly set the message ID by number, results in one of the default messages or no message.
The only sort of workaround that does “work”:
- Select the custom message using the reolink app / webinterface. Then set autoreply timer to 5 seconds when someone is home, and to 60 seconds when nobody is home via HA.
This ensures that the visitor will normally not hear the auto reply as most people are not that patient. However it still cause an message to be played later on, when no one is at the door, and someone may pass on the side walk.
Could someone please help me getting this to work?
Or should I submit an issue in the Reolink integration github ?
Best Regards,
Robin
