Repair Issue - App InfluxDB has been removed from the repository

While I am sure there is going to be a fix, I can just say to everyone we can ignore the warning and never hit Submit.

This looks simply like an InfluxDB 1.0 end-of-life issue. Development of InfluxDB is already at version 3.x, so Iā€™m guessing the add-on needs to be updated to create a 3.x database. The integration already supports versions 1, 2, and 3, so we should be fine on that end.

Then why wasnā€™t the add-on updated rather than being depreciated?

@tom_l - Since Grafana is actively maintained by Frenck, I am guessing the InfluxDB addon will pop back up as an app updated to 3.X. But that is just my wishful thinking :slight_smile:

What the heck?! I clicked submit since it was the only option. If I understand correctly, my influxdb data of several years is now gone? It did not only delete the app, but also the database?

Iā€™ve managed to backup my v1 database and restore on a seperate machine, but with the recent configuration move to the UI, I cannot see a way to repoint the influxdb app from the internal docker to an ip address. (Appreciate this does not solve the issue, but I am then hoping to migrate v1 to v2 outside of HA)

This gets messyerā€¦ AS i couldnt change the host: entry I removed the app, only to find i couldnt re-add it (as it is not longer in the repository? - how does that work if you have a v2/v3 database?). anyway, it all seems a bit of a mess, so am restoring from backup.

Is this interpretation of the repair correct? You will ONLY get the message if you are using influx V1? So I donā€™t hit repair but I am looking at upgrading influx to V2/3? Something like this?

Unless thereā€™s a better solution???

This is really a mess! I hit ok, just to say, that I got the message, which I actually didnā€™t! I was not really aware that hitting ok, not only removes the add on, but also deletes all my data and renderers Grafana useless.
There should have been a more detailed warning, well itā€™s probably because auf automations on the admin site. Still I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this. Can anyone provide a link to download and re-is tall the depraxtd version of the app, hoping that this would also bring the old data back to life?

HA should NEVER remove anything like an App without doing a backup of those data before!

HA did nothing, the author of this app ā€œdecidedā€ to archive this, because it is using an old version of Influx DB, a newer version already exists. So I understand his move. Even if not, we cannot do a thing, so can HA.

The real problem is the information. Why did I use InfluxDB? I was looking for a solution to save on a longer period all my data from HA, I searched and foundā€¦ surely a Youtube video explaining how to config InfluxDB and Grafana to store them, then display them in shiny graphics.
I surely never went to his Github before today, so I was never aware of this.

Second problem, the data. How to recover them? I have the app, I have the data, but I am not able to find an option to save them.
I was considering installing InfluxDB on my server, because my database starts to be big, and my saves of HA start to be consequent. It was just a project.
As it seems to become urgent, I am looking for a solution to back up my data, to be able to restore them in a new instanceā€¦ but I cannot find a solution.

Do you know how to backup?

If you install a old save from HA, you should find back your data and InfluxDB.
And sorry but it was indicated that clicking validate would do that. Actuallyā€¦ no, just it would remove the app, no mention of the data if I remember well.

Reading is AO, before hitting a Button :wink: , The message clearly says "When you Hit the OK, the App will be deleted ( The App is a DB, so ) Next time donā€™t be in a horry :slightly_smiling_face:

But i must admit, that 1. itā€™s a drastic, on not well thought through way of ā€œDeprecateā€ an App, as a Team Member of OHF, it would have been ā€œThoughtfulā€ with a ā€œheads-upā€ and suggestions/methods to continue with HA, and Current Data ā€¦
Not just, " Sorry guys, good bye , hit Ok to Delete "

100% this. When the developer is a ā€œGitHub starā€, puts blogposts like this, acknowledging that HA has become big, and impacts users, and we should be careful about adding changes to code and what not. It is highly irresponsible to just archive an addon with a warning (that likely came from HA and not from the addon, Iā€™m not very well versed with the architecture) like what we are getting.

Now this is nothing to discredit the amazing work Franck, been using HA and his addons and been relying on his work for years. Still, the change/deprecation couldā€™ve been thought out better.

PS: Iā€™m thinking of moving to influxdbā€™s enterprise-at-home solution and point HA to a server hosted on my NAS. was able to get my data from my daily backup.

So for the ones of us that hit the X and not OK, what is a sensible option to migrate to a supported platform/version? Like a lot of folks Iā€™m sure, I have dozens of Grafana visualizations that are pulling from an InfluxDB v1 database installed through HA apps and the thought of recreating them from scratch is enough to make me scream.
