Replace ESPHome with OpenBK

Hi all,

I`m wondering if there is any method to replace ESPHome with OpenBK.
It is because I struggle with ESPHome and Home Assistant.
Trying to flash the OpenBK binary result in:
Update Failed: Bad Magic Number

Thanks

Hi

Not sure to understand as you complain about ESPHome but your error message is related with OpenBK ???
for ESPHome what is the problem ? and what hardware are you trying to use ?

No the error message comes from ESPHome webif - trying to flash OpenBK via OTA update.
I struggle with HA because the entity is shown as “disbled by device” and there is no way to enable.

Also to compile and flash any change to the device is not userfriendly.

Which bin file did you upload?
The uf2?

No I choose the “CCtr Flash” and the “OTA Update” files from here:

Maybe I can put the device in something like emergency mode where to flash whatever I wont without any check.
I`m not familiar with the possibilities.

Or put it back to the original Tuya mode to flash again with “tuya-cutter”

Just to confirm, the device you are using has a Beken (BK7XXX T/N) microcontroller, correct?

Don’t OTA, partitions are probably different, flash openbeken using the BKGUI flash tool. If you’re on Linux, you will need the mono .net translation layer to run the BK GUI flash tool.

Openbk is much harder to program stuff than esphome, just fyi. I use both in my home and esphome is much easier to deal with. Openbk is great for converting tuya devices though.

So thanks for you hints. Because the BKGUITool needs an UART connection (I`ve one but…) it is to much effort for just one module.

So I leaf it as it is.
