Reporting functions of smart circuit breakers

Hi,

New to the community. I’m looking for some information on the capabilities of smart home circuit breakers. I’d like to be able to monitor the power usage of a circuit to a pool pump, and specifically get a notification if it’s not running or if there is any anomalies.

My elderly mum has a pool down the back of her property which she can’t get down to now, so it’s never monitored or checked on. Of course if the pump stops or there’s too much leaf litter in the basket then it very rapidly turns green and requires unnecessary cost to correct.

I was thinking a smart breaker could be used to send a notification if the pump has stopped running for more than a day, or if there’s excess load on it meaning it’s trying to suck water through a blocked basket. Do smart circuit breakers have this functionality?

Thank you for any advice

You wouldn’t necessarily need a smart circuit breaker, something like the Sense energy monitor would be sufficient for your monitoring. It can gauge power fluctuations you are wanting to see without changing the breakers at all.

It’s not cheap, but most smart breakers get to similar money. And with sense you have the bonus to look at multiple circuits at once. It’s pretty noninvasive unlike the smart breakers with variable quality.

Not cheap!?! I can buy 10 smart circuit breakers for that. Tuya zigbee breakers are around $30AU. I was just wondering if they had such a reporting function like what I was describing.

If they have power monitoring, you can create automations based on the power used.

Cool, thank you
