I am looking for a centralized electric panel for all home lighting and electric sockets to be controlled in one single panel , any guides on DIY solution that works as KNX is way too expensive I want to build something similar but with DIY I am good at Arduino and ESP programing and python , just looking if might some one has build the right pub to use for my project . for example as KNX solution I like the idea of KNX all centralized in one panel and then you distribute sensors or buttons , I am looking to build my own to be cabled , wifi is good but not really reliable or solid as good as wired stuff.
I have seen kin cony solution but to use serial to communicate is way too old for me any suggestion will be very welcomed beside your experience .
Just to know I have home working good with Sonoff tasmotized dimmers switches , but I want something more solid to work on its own and solid like industrial stuff that u do once and forget forever.
I agree with you at certain point , everything works with Wifi, zigbee and Z-wave , but wired is more Stable in my opinion does not rely on other dependancy like wifi AP or another stuff zigbee GW or wave GW , wireless stuff works easily but not 100% percent availability you always has to restart something from time to time , centralized and wired solution looks professional and rock solid once working it works and never stop unless something is broken I mean hardware failure.
Professional Building management solutions are always wired , KNX as example , what I am saying if your are building new house it seems the best option to have it wired and designed this way.
I agree wired data lines are superior, but I wouldn’t wire all sockets and lights back to one point.
I’d take a more modular approach. Of course you can wire to each distribution point.
I have 28 lights installed upstairs in my house. All are individually controllable, I wired all of them with less than 100m of cable. If I wired them all back to a central cupboard I would have used 500-600 meters of cable. I would then need 28 dimming units etc.
Schneider C-Bus might meet your needs. I use it here. Switches - if you use the C-Bus ones sit on a 2 wire low voltage star or ring typically implemented with a CAT5 cable.
